For DVD rips? For example, I downloaded Stargate Atlantis, DVD rips. I found some subtitles for the episodes, but they were synchronized with the non DVD rip versions.

Anyway, I kept having to compensate. At the beginning, I had to compensate backwards (as the subtitles showed up before the dialogue was said). But by the time I'd get to the end, I'd be like, +40 seconds.

Now this, I don't understand. I mean, the episodes are the same, right? It is simply the quality of the episode. So then, why are the regular subtitles not synchronized with the DVD rips? I've been going crazy trying to figure out why.

I mean, nothing seems to have been deleted or added in the DVD rips. And for example, even if the intro were longer in the DVD rip than in the TV version, one you'd compensate, it should normally be okay, and you should normally not have to keep re-compensating. I mean, the rest of the episode should be the same, as even if there were deleted scenese, those are never included directly in the episodes.

Can someone please tell me? I'm going crazy here trying to figure out why. And once I download the subtitles that have been synchronized for DVD rips, they are perfect.

Thanks.

What it difference between tv and dvd rips? Might be something to do with advertisement...

- Answer is commercials.

Like you say, easy way is to get right subs.

But if you want to sync them youself, use Subtitle Workshop.
(don't try to fix all lines at once)
