I have several VOB files from the same source that I'm trying to trim. I was able to successfully trim and export four of them as MPG files using Nero Vision Express 3.1.0.21. I had to try three times on one file because NVE created a 0-byte MPG file twice before creating a good file. I tried a fifth file four times, but NVE exported a 0-byte MPG file every time.
Of course there are processes running at the time, but there are no applications running and I'm not doing anything on the PC while NVE is creating the export. The export procedure runs exactly the same when NVE creates a good MPG as when it creates a bad one, ie, it takes just as long to make a bad one as a good one.
Any ideas on what is causing this and how I can prevent it?
NVE has been known to choke fairly readily whenever it encounters file structure irregularities. Here's a couple of options.
Option 1 Make sure you're using a stable version of Nero. Nero 6.6.0.18 is the most stable version of Nero 6. If you're running any other version of Nero 6, I would suggest uninstalling it and then running the Nero 6 Clean Tool.
Somehow, the next 6 VOB files I trimmed and exported all worked fine. It could be that I screwed up something when editing/exporting the files that failed, but I would expect to have gotten some sort of warning or error message. From now on, I'm going to save my log files, just in case.
