Hi all...
I have run into this error with some of my disks (I have been able to back up some of my movies). I have tried everything I have found on the threads... I have DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, have tried breaking protection with DVD43... and I have tried improting the darn disk with Video Vault to no avail... That's for one...
The second problem I am having is that, after trying to copy the disk several times with DVD Shrink, my HD available space has dropped from 121G to less than 93G!!!! I have deleted all files created, emptied the temps, reset the page file to 0 and then back to 1500... still no luck! Anyone have an idea on what's using up all that space?
Your help will be appreciated!

first off ..... try using RipIt4Me ..... it uses Shrink and DVDDecrypter and it does all the DVDs that are out there, download the programs and follow the guide:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/360110,
for your drive to eat up that much space, 2 things might be happening:
1. you didn't delete the folder where the DVDs were ripped to, or
2. you have a virus on the computer that is eating up your space
run your anti virus program to scan your computer.... make sure it's virus protection is up to date.....
look your drive over and make sure you deleted all the folders where the programs store your movies! In DVD Decrypter it's usually stored on your C: drive with the movie name to it. good luck

IHoe,
Thanks for the reply... I'll follow your advise on using RipIt4Me... I'll keep you posted on that...
As for the space issue, I had deleted all the files (I'm positive) plus ran searches for last modified, size, and ISO files, including hidden ones... Antivirus is up to date as well as Spyware detecting software... Here's what I found after a while of trial and error... Norton 2005! They were in the Norton Protected recycling bin! So that's been taken care of... Just thougth someone may benefit from what I found...
Thanks!

IHoe...
Was able to bypass the error with RitIt4Me... However, the disks don't play on my home DVD players... Any idea on that?
Thanks again!

there are plenty of reasons why certain dvds won't play in other players:
1. burning speeds: burn at 4x so there will be less writing errors (rule of thumb is to burn at half the rated speed of the disk--8X disk burn at 4x).
2. read manual for your stand alone player and use the disks that will play in your player. If your player is less than 2 yrs old then it should play the + or - R disks! I said SHOULD that's why you read the manual.
3. try booktyping your drive to DVd-ROM so it will make your +R disks more compatible to players. Read this:
http://k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php
4. make sure that there are no finger prints or scratches on your disk that make it hard for the player to read the disk!
5. use good quality media (rule of thumb....buy the ones that are Made in Japan.) Verbatim is a top notch disk and is the only exception to this rule....some Verbatims are made in Taiwan and they are top notch!
6. and don't burn too close to the outer edge of the disk ..... which will make the disk unreadable! but using good media you will be able to burn close to the edge better than lesser quality media. Just in case I only burn no closer than 4400MB, so if you can set your programs to that, all the better!
follow these little tips of the trade and you'll have better success! good luck.

IHoe,
I checked into your references... Actually I'm using - R disks... My players only recognize that format. I tried booktyping but it wouldn't work using -Rs. Do you think if I try +Rs it would?
Thanks again!

if you checked into "my references" then you should have read the first line of the link in booktyping:Quote: This page is the front for www.booktypefaq.com. If this is your first visit to k-probe.com, welcome. Use the bitsetting (Set Booktype) feature in your bitsetting software to set your DVD+R/DVD+RW/DVD+R DL Media (Only DVD+R/+RW Media)
