I used to burn alot of DVDs but I have not in a while. I just got Nero 7 and now Im starting to burn again. I know this is in here somewhere but I have looked for a long time and cant find it. Im burning to close to the edge of my DVDs. Im using versino 7.5.7.0. How do I change the settings so Im not that close to the edge of the disk? I know I have done this before but now I cant remember how. Thanks for you patience with a guy that has no memory.

If you are using Shrink Go to Edit > Preferences, Change the Target size drop-down menu to Custom then change the MB to your preferred size.
With Nero Recode, change the drop-down menu located lower right, the same way.

thanks for getting back to me so quick. What I'm doing though is using Nero vision to make my menus and edit the movie then burn it. If the movie is too large it will shrink it to fit on the disk but when it shrinks it, it only shrinks it down to just barly fit on the disk. Is there a way to set how far it shrinks it down so it'll shrink it down far enough so Im not so close to the edge?

What program are you using to shrink down your files? Nero Vision? Does it do that. I have never used it. Seem Recode set in the parameter that you want, would do it better.

I don't think you can set the size on disc with Nero Vision. I'd have to look but I don't ever remember seeing that.
You can always burn your NeroVision project to a HDD folder and then open it in Recode or Shrink.

With 1st class media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim and Hitachi Maxell (MIJ), you'll be fine with anywhere from 4400MB - 4460MB. I've customed nearly 99% of all my backups to 4460MB and even very few to 4465MB and I've never experienced any playback issues whatsoever.
The more MB you have, the better quality it'll gain. However, that's just me. So the choice is yours.

"Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)"
So I just can't see making the thing any smaller.

Yep, that's me. I like to keep/have the most space (MB) as much as possible to gain quality. So I'd figured 4460MB out of 4489MB should be acceptable.
I think 4489MB is the DVD-R and 4482MB is the DVD+R, but then again, it's still got more than 20MB left over, so it'll be alright with "4460MB" when using top notch media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatims or Hitachi Maxell (MIJ).
I've done nearly all my backups with 4460MB and to be honest, I've never experienced any playback issues.

Nero vision automatically reduces the quality so that it will fit on a disk. When I load up something that is too big it brings it down to almost an exact fit for the disk. I have had a couple ask for a second disk to finish burning. I was just wondering if there was a way to set the size that it auto shrinks it down to, so that it would be a little smaller. I?m using Verbatim DVDs.
