Hard Drive Swap Problems! PLS Help!

OK, I modded my xbox like 3 weeks ago, and after ironing out a few problems, it worked fine. So yesterday I decided to install a 40 gig HD in it. I did it, and it worked fine... or so I thought. It loads up fine when the mod chip is on, but when it is off, I get an error (#5). I assume that this is because of something I did wrong during the installation. I still have the origional HD un touched. Is there any way that I can fix this?

Oh, BTW, I can still run the MS dashboard from EvoX.

you need to lock the new hdd for the original bios to kick in
