iTunes storage/re-direct question

Hi, and thanks in advance for any helpful advice...

My issue is this:
I tried to install iTunes on an external hard drive because I have multiple computers. My ultimate goal was to be able to access my library anywhere, whether I'm on my laptop or at someone else's home. I suppose Apple considered this when they wrote their software, since if you could take your musical library anywhere it stands to reason you could share it openly with anyone. So, to obstruct this, there must be a line of code somewhere in iTunes that saves automatically to the main hard drive. Even though I select my external HD (H:) when installing the program, certain parts of it still save to my C: drive. This prevents me from accessing my library when on another computer.

Any suggestions?
