I posted a reply to one thread already, but I am extremely desperate to get this corrected. I tried a Philips DVD-R and that didn't work. They were on sale, so what the hell right...since they didn't work, I switched back to old faithful for me, Memorex DVD-R. Still getting the illegal disc errors. I cleaned out Nero 6 and upgraded to Nero 7, same thing. Cleaned that out and reinstalled...same result. Turned off Itunes, and disables DMA. Same. Tried to upgrade my firmware for my Sonly DRU-710A, but when I open the app that I downloaded from Sony, it freezes my pc totally! I would Greatly appreciate all the help I get from whomever...I have pasted the most current error log...(done in simulation)

I am also having problems. I'm using a Sony DVD-R accucore. It says DVD version 2.1 on the disc. Anyway, I burned a CD-R today before trying these DVD-R's, and the CD-R worked fine. Here is my log, any ideas?

I do beleive it was the speed of the media...I have used Memorex 8x in the past with no problems...I called Sony Tech Support and they verified that I can only use an up to 8x DVD-R, no matter the brand.

@feeldeez

You might want to update your firmware. I think there's a newer version BYX5 available. Your version is pretty old.

Since you're burning an ISO, try ImgBurn (free) and see if that works.

Seems all it was was the maximum speed of the disc...my DRU-710A has a max write speed of 8x for DVD, I was using DVD media with a max speed of 16x. I confirmed with Sony and purchased some Philips DVD-R @ 8x and it works perfectly.

The problem was likely the result of your firmware being so out of date that it didn't recognize the newer 16X media. Many 8X burners can burn 16X media without any problems. 16X media is usually rated as 1x-16X. 16X is the max speed.
