I have a chip-modded PS2 and also a modded PSOne, because I often like to make legal backups of my own games so that I can have one in the PSOne while I am at the office...
I am having some difficulty and wondered if someone had an idea. Here is the scenario:
On two games in particular, Area 51 and Battle Arena Toshinden 3 (both are PS1 games), I am having difficulty with the backups. Once the Area 51 backup is finished, the game starts but freezes shortly thereafter and I have to power off. The freezing takes place in different places, and is more time related than related to a particular section of the disc. If you play it for more than a minute or so, it dies. On Toshinden 3, the game won't start at all - just goes to a black screen.
By the way, I did make sure that both originals do play - and they are perfect. I keep all my originals in new condition in their cases.
I have tried using Alcohol 120, Clone CD, and Nero. I have tried this on two different burners (Sony and HP), and I have tried three kinds of CDR media (HP, TDK, and Taiyo Yuden). Am I doing something wrong? Normally, especially with PS1 backups, they are pretty fool proof and always work. I have tried the processes with a "read not to exceed 4X" when ripping, and then writing not to exceed 8X (the slowest speed listed) when burning the image.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated. If I have to, I will just buckle down and buy second originals of these games, but I really hate to have to do that...
