Hi all,

Sorry to post this in the forum here, but I'm not sure where else to go for this.

I've recently thrown in the towel of my ATI 9800 AIW Pro card, it was constantly overheating and causing major display issues, I've gone with the nVidia 6600 and am experiencing different issues, hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

Previously, using the ATI Multimedia Centre (which I still think is at least a decent software product) would result in crisp and clear video, even if it didn't play all the video files out there. I would never have any problems with stuff like Flicker, but now that I've moved to the nVidia card, I'm noticing a clearer picture but with a large amount of flicker. Being as this is how I watch most things, it's a big problem for me.

To give a basis for comparison, I've tested the same video in WMP, VLC and ATI Multimedia Center. In WMP I get zero flicker, but also lose all of the functionality of the media library and my remote wonder controller.

In VLC and ATI Multimedia Center, I run into the massive flicker problem, for example my test movie was a Disney film, one I own of course, that I ripped onto my computer. In WMP I get no flicker when the display of the Disney castle appears, but the moment that I start it in either of the other players, it rears its head. Being that yes, I have done a full upgrade and have had to reinstall the various codecs, things aren't *exactly* the same, but to see this much of a change is a little odd.

Here are my system specs:

- AMD Athlon 64 - 3200+
- 1 GB Ram
- nVidia 6600 w/ 256mb DDR
- 1x250gb, 1x160, 1x60 - all SATA HDs, have attempted video on each with same effects
- Display on Monitor (viewsonic vx2025w), 1680x1050 and on TV Out have attempted 800x600, 640x480 and currently 720x480, which is what seemed to work best on my previous config. All resolutions are at 60hz. I'm using an sVideo connection to hook into my TV.

Codecs:

- I've installed the basic Official DivX codec
- FFDShow
- That's it, simple and basic.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Nick
