I'm not sure where exacly this should be posted.
My computer isn't recognizing my drive. In setup [F2], it is listed as (LITE-ON DVD-RW LDW-811S) my secondary drive. Under device manager, doesn't display any problems with hardware, but if I insert a DVD click on drive "E" through My Computer, it's listed as DVD-RW Drive E, but doesn't display its contents. I inserted a DVD to play, but doesn't automatically play DVD as previously. Also, in NeroInfo Tool, it does display drive information with firmware, but still no response from drive. In DVD Decrypter, when I select "E", it displays "Device Not Ready (Medium Not Present)".
Any suggestions? PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks in advance,

No, reverse. But,... these settings have always been this way from day 1. It just stopped recognizing in the past month. You think I should reverse them?
Thanks again,

All that was done. Nothing! I guess it needs replacing.

Is it normal for the drive to be able to read and write to CDs, but not be able to read and/or write to DVDs? I would think the drive isn't really "dead". What could have gone wrong? Any suggestions?

It is mostly liekly your laser is dieing. It requires a stronger laser to read DVD. Try cleaning it with a cotton bud and some rubbing alcohol. Then rub the laser for 10 secs then with the dry end, rub again for 10 secs.
That might help your drive read dvds better, but might not help the write problem.
