Hi everyone sorry if I am posting this in the wrong thread.
I am having some minor issues with my DVD burning/compressing programs.
I have a PC and the three programs I use are: DVDShrink 3.2, DVDDecrypter3.5.4.0, and DVDFABDecrypter.
My two issues are; one, that DVDFABdecrypter will not decrypt some of my movies so I can back them up for my own personal use. I use FAB as my last alternative, if shrink can't do it, usually Decypter can, if Decrypter can't almost always FAB can. But on occassion it can not.
Two, FAB will decrypt most movies, but some I can not shrink using DVDShrink.
I am hoping that someone can help me out with my problems. Are there other shrinking programs out there? Or are there other decryption programs out there? I have an older version of DVD X Copy Platinum, but that hardly works on any movies now.
I appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thank you.
Try updating DVD-Fab to the latest version. Some come out days apart so always keep checking - one update I think came out this morning. If all else fails, Ripit4me is supposed to be able to tackle ANYTHING, though it doesn't appear to be the most convenient tool to set up. It makes use of DVDShrink and DD, which you already have. I think you'll want to use IMGBurn for the actual burning, especially if you'll be burning Double-layer discs.
Incidentally, DVDShrink has a reputation for so-so quality, depending on the amount of compression, if any. You may, aside from burning DL discs i.e. no compression, want to look at re-encoders like DVD-Rebuilder with CCE. Of course, that's a more advanced topic unrelated to your original question, but since you're new to this, I thought I'd give you a head's up.
-Do you believe you own your computer and shouldn't be told what you can run and do? Then say *NO* to Microsoft Vista!
-Since half the questions here involve media problems, here ya go: Only use Verbatim or Taiyo-Yuden discs (get your TYs from Rima.com, not Supermediastore or meritline). Forget the rest, no matter what "brand" they sell under. Always burn at 4x speed regardless of the speed rating of this discs or your drive. If you have burn problems with these then you have to update your drive's firmware. For double-layer discs, only use Verbatim DVD+R DL and burn them at 2.4x speed.
