Well let put it this way.
There are two and half times as many wii's being shipped as Ps3's. Depends a lot on where you live or where you are willing to go. I know that in the area around me the ps3 won't even sell out.

Actually, it turned out at the last minute, that actual PS3 numbers were even smaller than expected; much smaller. It's estimated at 200,000 in the US.
So, the numbers are just not even comparable.
As for Wii, numbers look much better. But you must also consider that the system is a fraction of the PS3's cost, so may have a much higher demand level. It's really to be seen; but I think you'll be able to find them if you look carefully.

depends let me explain
gamestop has announced that pre orders of nintendo wii consoles will be filled via pre orders first so if you where one of the 16 pre orders per gamestop stores here in washington state you will receive your console but if you didn't pre order you are not getting one due to the 6 preorders that have to come out of that number to gamestop employees
sucks huh

If you have a best buy in town you might want to give them a call. I was worried about not getting one on launch, so I called them a few minutes ago. The store in my town is getting about 102, and the next closest one is getting at least 80. I'm glad I don't have to worry about camping all night.

ehh well in the Seattle area the number of wii was cut at the last minute. As of a day or 2 ago my local Walmart and Fredmeyers and Bestbuy were saying that they have 100 units. Come launch day they said they only recieved 54.... and 35 @ Walmart.
So i didnt get one :/

I was 57th in line and got one. There was at least 90 people in line and they all got one. Now accessories thats a different story. They were letting people in 10 at a time and by the time I got in they had run out of nunchuck attachments.

Well, from what I have read in the news paper the PS3 has shipped 400,000 consoles world wide and only about 200,000 of those have made it to the U.S. Nintendo has shipped 4 million Wii console world wide with the majority going to the U.S. The Wii's are much cheaper to make and Nintendo should be pumping a lot out in the next month or two. Hard to say when it will get free enough where you can just go buy one. What I'm thinking is that most stores will open the resrving back up to make a new list and it will keep that going. I trust Nintendo enough to supply enough systems. If you are after the PS3 you may want to rethink that. One very expensive Two Not as fun as the Wii and Three there is a glitch in the software and some games are not working with the backwards compatibility. They are going to issue a patch, but you would think that they would have tested the system more to work out bugs and glitches. Rock on Nintendo!

lol wow just as i gave up hope at Walmart my friend calls me an hour later at 1 am and told me there were only 18 ppl at Target camping. It was 15mins away from my house so i gathered some blankies and pillow and ipod and went there at 2 am and slept till 7 and they handed out tickets and i bought one this morning...yay. They had 60 units. I was number 24 in line.
Believe it or not i played the wii sports tenins for like 2 hours straight...it is so realistic the way you can backhand and serve.
Cant get online to work tho. Wanna trade the miis with my friend.

Online services are in a very limited status right now. Only a couple features are working; specifically the store. Gee, go figure that one service working is the revenue generating one; but they're a corporation like everyone else, it honestly makes perfect sense, and I would expect nothing else from them or $ony or Micro$oft.
I'm unsure if Downhill Jam(The one launch title with online play) is actually up and running online. I am eager to get the Opera browser on my system, as well as the MP3 support mentioned before.
As for stores in my area, most mart stores like Target, etc had lines, but they had plenty of units for everyone. Myself, I had to go back and forth to two different stores because my pre-order location didn't have the games and accessories I needed.... Messy. Overall though, a good experience, and very worthwhile.
Nintendo is expressing a lot of confidence in the shipment quantities coming this season; and they've always been really up-front about that, so I trust they'll come through with a LOT of units for Christmas gifts. If you really make calls, and look around, I am certain you will be able to find the systems before the Holidays.
Good luck, and happy hunting to you all; the system is definitely worth your while!
