Strange avi to mpg problem

i´v got a few avi that when i load em with tmpegnc it seems fine , but when i encode , the picture freezes about 10s into the video and only the sound go on.

I can watch em perfectly so i should have the codec required to encode em , i did have the exact same problem but with watching em (the pic frooze and the sound went one) but i download ffdshow and then it worked perfectly , but i still can´t convert em to vcd.

Did you check the source file for bad frames??
