Okay just picked up red steel from best buy attempted to mount it several various ways with my pc. The dvd drive is not even recognizing a disc is there. No idea what the big N is up to for this one as far as how they are reading these discs.

Yeah I know the wii hasn't been released yet. But a lot of the games have been out since 11-14-06 in the US. Perhaps you should check your local best buy.

Yes, Nintendo set the release dates for these things sooner than the hardware.

Actually, that's very normal. It happens often. 360, PSP, PS2, Dreamcast, a LOT of systems have games techinically launch before the system. It's just unusual that stores bother to display them before launch.
Oh, as for not being readable, I wuld bet money, that the Wii uses (at least as *part* of it's protection) the same stupid method the GCN used. On GCN discs, they were unreadable, because the entire disc (Including the ToC) was written literally on the filesystem level BACKWARDS. Computers can't read that without modification.

yep nintendo gamecube disks read backward to forwards not forwards to backwards like most consoles do but all some one ha to do is devolope a program to read the disk in the right directdion and instand dvd iso
but you still have another issue the dvd disk that all wii games are on are dual layer dvd disks so you would have to purchase a dual layer dvd burrner

I was just wondering about the Xbox 360 copying software if it could be patched or remade for the Wii, so you just do the swap trick and dump the DL DVD.
I tryed getting Call of Duty 3 Wii to read on my PC the PC just ignores it completly.

I don't think it's just that easy, unfortunately. It seems there was some issue when they thought of doing this for GCN a few years back, and it was quickly realized that the drive might actually have to spin the disc physcially backwards. This could present a huge problem, as I doubt that the motors in most DVD-Rom drives are equipped to spin the disc in the opposite direction, as there has never been a sensible need for that.
As for the dual-layer problem mentioned above, most burners are dual layer already at this point, only a few single layer are still floating around. Really, the bigger concern is making sure you have dual layer media in the drive. Then again, there's still a lot of questions to be answered with the whole process, so no one can tell for sure how it will all work just yet.

I forsee a USB cable or the wireless network being exploited in dumping the games to a PC, then you could probably mount them to an external HDD or even burn them and they'll work with a chipped Wii. This system will be hacked one day, they all are. Just a matter of time. And since this is gamecube 1.5 in terms of archetecture, it might not take the 5 years that the GC did.
I cover my bases...
1)Xbox w/xecuter 2.6 solderless
2)Ps2 (slim) w/DMS4 Lite
3)Ps2 V7 w/DMS4 Lite and 200 Gig Maxtor HDD
4)GC w/qoob pro

I agree with pressed, I'm simply stating that the idea of a program to sort of 'force' the drive in one's pc to read it is highly improbable(Not impossible, nothing's impossible).
