safe mode is just a simple patching method that doesn't work with software reset. Ive never tried a game that didn't work with safe mode, and some of those didn't work with dma, so use safe mode. Rom trim just gets rid of anything unneccesary in the rom so it saves a little space.

I have firmware v30 and I got Yoshi's Island to work with normal mode but I don't remember whether I did trim or no trim.

I can't get FF3 to work at all though. I went through all the read modes with trim except Normal cuz it won't let me choose that. I guess I'll go through all of them again with no trim. >_>

For me... M3 firmware 30C or whatever, and I did Force R/w and trim rom, normal mode, and it worked.

All three have worked for me using GM 30 and FW 30, 4x, f/RW, Trim rom. After doing some searching on the web, it seems everyone is getting different results with various combinations.
