I just finished softmodding my xbox and I ran across a slight problem.
I ftped a game over from my xbox hd, made an xISO file using Qwix, and burned it on a Maxell DVD-RW. I got a v1 xbox with a Thompson drive. It didn't read the disk. I thought it was the media, but when I put in a burned movie on the same type of disk (Maxell DVD-RW), my box read it without a problem. I noticed that when I was burning the game onto the dvd it burned at 2.4x. I tried with different burning programs and I get the same thing. I even have 2 different burners I was using. Is there anyway to force a burn at 1x? I looked into omnipatcher, but I don't think it's the program I need.

Your problem is you are bruning too slow, not too fast. Burn at 4x. Then you should be OK. Also, you're using -RW media. Consolse drives don't like this too much, they prefer DVD+/-r media. Also, Maxwell isn't really top notch media. Try Verbatim or Sony.

I'm supposed to burn fast? I thought it's way better to burn slower? Am I burning the ISO right, cause the DVD works fine.

to solve the problem:
get rid of the RW discs and get some good quality 8X DVD-R
the Xbox will not work well with the RW discs for games
Burn the 8X disc at 4X with DVD Decrypter or IMGburn
movies and games are two different things.
i have had movies work on many discs that would not work for games.

Burning to slow can cause glitches just like burning too fast can. Burning at half of the disc's max write speed usually works best.
