Hi. I am new to this torrent downloading and have a query. I tried to download my first one the other night using utorrent. Everything was going fine, speed was anything up to 300kB/s. Then when file got to 99.3% it suddenly slowed down to between 0.1kb/s and about 0.5kb/s. I tried again today with a differnt file and it did exactly the same thing at 99.6%. Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with the file? Is there any way of fixing/avoiding this in future. Hope someone can assist me. Thanks.

Try another small torrent file just to make sure you can get 100% of any file.

It may be that the 2 you tried are old torrents and there aren't any seeds left, even though the site you got the torrent from said there were seeds.

Or, possibly for some reason utorrent isn't hashing the files properly once the download is complete, before it puts you into seeding mode, this isn't very common.

Usually, you do not have the complete file at this stage and the client knows that from communicating with the tracker that hosts the torrent and it will wait forever to get that last bit of the file it is looking for.

Try and get torrents from private sites ( ones that you have to register to), instead of public sites.

Do you have a router?

And perhaps try a whole new client, there are many to choose from.

A little more info would be better.

I would suspect a bad torrent as I've had this happen a couple of times myself.
