how can i find out if my burner can booktype or not??

first off what's your burner's make and model? and you can try a few things.... one is try to set your DVD+R media to DVD-ROMs by using DVDInfo Pro:


or use DVDDecrypter:

or you can set Nero to Booktype Automatically:

well its pretty crappy....its a nexxtech, i think thats all you need 2 know right there, nexxtechs cant booktype anyways right? and i heard they are considered a cheap brand haha. im just thinking of getting a lite-on, all lite=ons booktpe right? oh and thank you for replying :D

I heard good things about Lite-Ons! I a philips 8631 and a BenQ 1655 both are booktyped and does a great job~! I love them both!

Most LG Burners allow booktype setting. In fact, the only one I know does not is the GSA-4160. Yes, I Love LG Burners. All I use.
To each His/Her own. Just my preference. I have GSA-4163 & GSA-4167. Each allows booktype setting. I did have a GSA-4160. I used it in a build. Excellent drive. High tranfer rate. DMA Mode 4! Just can not booktype with that one.

Info Pro doesn't work anymore. It tells me the program is expired and brings me to Roxio website. Any other useful software?

to answer your question DVDIdentifier does a lot of the same thing that DVDInfo Pro does and it's free, just hit the link.
