DVD+R Movie Backups Not Playing on Newer xboxs

I recently tried playing some dvd+r back up movies on my friend's newer xbox, bought after 12/25/02, roughly, and they didn't work. I've been using DVDXCOPY Xpress, with Memorex and Verbatium DVD+Rs. These back ups work on my xbox, bought before 12/25/02, so I was wondering maybe if Microsoft added a DVD+/-R detection system or what not.
