Does anyone know what port number(s) the Wii uses when accessing the on-line features? I had to put my Wii in the DMZ on my wireless router in order to get access to the online portion (updates, Virtual Console shop, etc.) I would rather just open up the specific ports that are necessary, but I couldn't find enough detail in my routers log file to figure out what ports it's using.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a firewall activated on my modem/wireless router and I did not have any problem with ports, I think that you problem could be more easy fixed if gives the model and brand and what ports you has open or closed.

I believe that Nintendo is using the port 80, 21 and 25 (generic ports) to make the transfer of files and messaging.

I'm using a D-Link DI-524 with ports 80 and 21 open. 80 is http so if that wasn't open, I wouldn't be able to view websites, and 21 isftp (which I can also access fine.)

I went into my router settings and went to the DHCP page. This shows a list of all IP addresses that the router has assigned. I then checked the IP on my computer and my wife's laptop, and there was only one other IP given out by the router. By process of elimination, that IP was the Wii.

To check your IP address on a PC (not sure how to do it in OSX if you're on a Mac), go to Start>Run and type in "cmd". This will bring up a DOS window. Type in "ipconfig" (without the quotes) and hit Enter. It will show you your IP Address along with other info.
