Verbatim are the # 2 Brand. I just recently got 200, 4x for $50 US
I've used about 75 without a problem. and as far as I know they are the only Disc made in Taiwan that are any good.
Thanks for the info. I read the threads creaky suggested, some good stuff there. One question though - Do pearl white Verbs state 'Pearl White' on the packaging? I'm a bit confused as to what is meant by 'Pearl Whites'.
If I'm not mistaken, the "Pearl Whites" are the ones that are plain white printable with no branding. My office ordered some Verbs from another source than what I suggested because they were about $2/100 cheaper. We had been using Imation and Memorex and suffered greatly from media rot, so I presented my facts and figures about TY and Verb, and where to get them.
I had a sick feeling when they arrived because I saw the plain white top and knew the higher ups did what they wanted rather than what I suggested. Anyway I opened the pack, ran the MID test and there it was; CMC.
Stay with TY and/or branded Verbatim. It's like anything else; you wouldn't compromise quality and dependability for a couple of dollars would you?
fordio- don't know what's available on your side of the pond , But if you really like Taiyo Yudens & Who does'nt ? You could perhaps try and find some Made In Japan Sony's ( Octagon shaped Foam spacer on top of spindle) or perhaps Some Made in Japan Fuji's both should yield Taiyo yuden media codes when you check them ! Though the MIJ Fuji's have become somewhat of a rarity atleast here in the USA ! & buying Taiyo yuden 's this way is often cheaper than buying online especially DVD+R 'S which for some reason are more expensive then DVD-R disc of any given Manufacturer ! where as if you buy your Taiyo/Sony disc (Sony Branded ) you'll pay the same price for either type media -DVD+R or DVD-R go figure ? In either case good luck & happy holidays buddy !
