I'm sorry if this has already been discussed but I've been searching this and other forums all night and can't seem to find a good answer or this exact problem. I'm trying to burn my dvr-ms files using Nero vision so I can watch things I've dvr'ed on my computer on my TV. Sometimes it comes out fine, but other times they video has a strange horizontal banding on people or objects when they are in motion. This is visible in the frames while editing the video in Nero Vision. On my TV, it is even worse, turning the video into a pixelated mess whenever action is happenning. It is driving me crazy, and seems to happen for no reason. It is not the media because I can see the problem on the computer before I burn it. Furthermore, it happens to some files but not others seemingly at random, even things recorded form the same channel or even the same show. The videos play fine in Windows Media Center. What can I do to fix this? Please help me.
Hate to answer my own question, but after an entire sleepless night of raging at God and Nero I seem to have solved my problem. I changed the settings in video options to use the better quality encoding instead of fast encoding and changed the interlacing from automatic to interlaced top field first. Why Nero would make their default settings so lousy I don't know, but this seems to have worked - even though the video still looks bad on the frame to frame editing, when it is burnt to DVD it comes out fine, whereas before it was coming out even worse. So anyone who is having similar problems might want to try this. Thanks to everyone on here for their help in other threads which eventually helped me lead me to this conclusion.
