First off - Tony Hawk: It's not a standard Tony Hawk by any means whatsoever. In fact, you're best off if you throw 'Tony Hawk' out of the title altogether. Just think of it as 'Downhill Jam'. It bears some similarities to SSX, with a fun factor I would compare to Crazy Taxi(When it was new). It's got a lot of fun and attitude, it doesn't focus on tricks nearly as much as you're used to; it's about getting from point A to point B FAST. Like in SSX, doing tricks can make you go faster; but they are hardly the focus. The controls feel very natural, and the tricks are not hard to do(There aren't nearly as many as you normally encounter).
CoD3 is getting good reviews, the only negative being that it doesn't have multiplayer, but that is quite forgivable.
I own Wii Sports, Zelda, and Trauma Center. Three games that use the controller very differently. Wii sports gets you used to the controller, although is very much a novelty in the longrun. Trauma center is an addictively fun title that feels very much like using a laser pointer. Zelda proves another use altogether, you move with the joystick in your left hand, and the movement sensors in the controller are used for attacking by simply moving the controller quickly in the direction of the enemy. These titles seem to give you nearly every element of the control types, and I'm very pleased. The novelty has not yet worn off. That's not to say that it won't as Nintendo enters their inevitable 'slow period' in the first year (It happens every time; I'm expecting it) but they always do make a comeback towards their one-year anniversary when the REALLY good titles start to pour out again.
If you don't mind what is most likely an impending four to six month slump; it's a system you'll be very happy with. But keep in mind, the slump always has existed, and probably will happen again on this one. But then again, Nintendo has a large number of titles available by the end of the year; so it may be different this time around.
