It is most likely possible.

You can only downgrade if your PSP is not a TA-082A model.

This is how you check:

And checking to see if there is the "TA-082" yellow words on the mother board, if so it is the new model, if it doesnt show, it means it's not the newer models and its safe to get it chiped using the modchip and safe to downgrade using the 2.5/2.6 downgrader. Even if it does have a TA-082A motherboard, you can still upgrade to 2.71 and use HEN C and DevHook to play ISOs and homebrew. Heres a guide on that:
