I have had a licensed copy of Nero Burning RON 6.6.0.16 for quite some time and have never had a problem with it. However, the last three times that I tried to burn files from my hard disc to a DVD-R, the computer has shut down. When it reboots I get a message that it shutdown because of a serious error. I have not added any soft or hard ware for some time.
Thanks for the help.

There can be tons of things that triggered your system to shutdown. Check the below list.
* overheating (not enough fans/airs flow through)
* HD is fragmented, defrag HD more often (at least once if not twice week)
* run Disk Cleanup daily to get rid of all cookies, temp, etc.
* other programs/softwares conflicts one another
* HD space available (make sure you have tons or at least 10GB of free available)
* virus/trojans, etc.

Thank you. It looks like I was short on memory. I should have picked up on that myself. Many thanks.

@Vlad
Have you just upgraded to the newest AnyDVD???
I did before the Thanksgiving Holidays. Came back and yesterday tried 3 movies with ISO img file created by ImgBurn. Opening these files in NeroBurningRom(NBR) and placing a blank in the drive and have it load. Turns my video card off and no access to pc. Turn off manually and restart and everything is fine. I tried several new IMGBurn ISO files I created after the problem with AnyDVD in all instances working. Same result>freeze.
So clean tool and uninstall Nero 6.6.0.18 and problem continues. NeroRecode works fine only NBR is problem.
So I pull out another disc that was done on Nov3 with another version of AnyDVD runnning, I create an ISO file with ImgBurn and open ing in NBR sofar ok. Then place blank in drive , and Walla, NBR works fine in burning a good disc with the ISO.
Conclusion: There is a bug in newest AnyDVD 6.0.8.5 update when burning ISO files in NBR! IMHO
Has anyone noticed this problem? And is anyone willing to create and ImgBurn ISO file a with AnyDVD6.0.8.5. running and try and burn it with Nero Burning Rom?

You are absolutely correct. I upgraded just before the problem started. Where do we go from here?

2 options for you:
°Run AnyDVD is safe mode (right click on the red fox - go to settings>program settings)
°Or go back down to 6.0.8.2. Here's a link.
Luckily I haven't had any problems w/ the latest AnyDVD and the 2 pc's I run it on so must be something different on the pc setups on why some have a problem and some don't. Just don't know exactly what it is.
edit to add: Forget the above 2 right now - update AnyDVD to 6.0.8.8 which is supposed to fix this problem.

Binkie's right but I'll stick to 6.6.8.2 until I'm sure this mess is sorted.
@binkie
See if yours freezes if you create a 4.7 ISO file with ImgBurn and burn it with NeroBurning Rom

I'm afraid that you have gone past my limited ability as I'm not familar with ImgBurn and don't know what a 4.7 ISO file is.

I can try it if you like - the pc I would do in on has Nero 7 - don't know if that makes a diff. (probably not)
I can convert a video_ts folder w/ ImgBurn to an iso.
What option in burning rom did you use?
@vlad
Keep us posted on your outcome

Find a moivie that is a single layer one(not one that you have burned, but a bought one) and rip it to HDD with AnyDVD 8.5.running, and ImgBurn. Then take the ISO Image file ImgBurn created and open it in Nero Buring rom and put a blank disc in the your drive. And if you get that far hit burn. Black screen appearred on my pc. You don't actually have to burn the movie just hit cancel if you're able to get that far. As I said Recode worked just fine with 8.5. I have since upgraded to 8.8 and everything is back to normal.

I don't do exactly like that yesterday.
I just took a video_ts converted it to an iso w/ imgburn then opened burning rom and went to burn (AnyDVD was running the whole time). I was able to go thru all the motions and no problem :)
But you're squared away now - didn't take them long to fix it!

Thanks, it must not have been an issue with Nero 7 and now it's not with Nero 6.6 either, with the upgrade to 6.0.8.8. The only time I really use Nero burning rom is when I burn 2 DVDs at the same time. I just like to have it all properly working when the time comes and Sat. the time came for a double burn and Nero barfed. The first time it did it, I thought my monitor had gone out cause everything went black. LOL

Well at least it didn't bomb in the burning - then you would have had 2 coasters :)
So far I've been doing good w/ the 2 at once in burning rom - I would hate for it to crash then!

I have thread on here about a CD burning problem (Nero). It's
interesting that my problem started after I downloaded the new
AnyDVD. I've had my computer in a repair shop. Brought it home
today and am still having the same problem. I can read a file
to MY MUSIC, but when I go to burn it refuses to recognize an
empty disc, and shuts my computer down.

I have yet to download the AnyDVD update that was announced yesterday [12/1], but since downloading the 'fixed' version last week, I have burned three dvds without mishap.
