GTA3 video memory question!

I am trying to run GTA3 on a older kids computer and it says you need 12 mb of video memory to run this game. Ok here comes to " non Computer person question" Is there anyway to free up video memory or can it just not be run on this computer? Thanks like always you guys are great!!!

-DirectX: DirectX v8.1
