Hey Gwen
We won't have that in the states til next week.
What copy protection did AnyDVD show it as having?
The files that DVDFab ripped will be in a video_ts folder - open this folder in Shrink or Recode and burn. (it probably needs compression)
If not than just use Burning Rom or Express to add the video_ts folder & burn.
edit to add: the ifo is like the info file that the player reads on how to play back the files (VOB). These are the files contained in the video_ts folder.

Thanks Karen, I followed your instructions and managed to do it with Recode...most problems I have ever had backing up...they've done a few strange things with it.

I have had the same problem with dvd decrypter/shrink in the past. This is due to the ever changing encryption that the companies are putting on the dvds. I went to Mrbills.biz and downloaded some add ons (RipIt4Me and FixVTS which is the life saver of the 2 downloads) for the two programs you are currently using. I cost me $20.00 but it was worth it each week the program gets upgraded to combat the new encryptions. Hey if you can't get anything else to work try it out i did and no problems with any backing up since.

@gwen
Have you tried my Rip any DVDs with RipIt4Me +DVD Shrink + ImgBurn guide? All links with free tools are provided in there.
Since you have Nero Recode, simply replace DVD Shrink and ImgBurn with Nero Recode and Nero Burning Rom.
I'm not sure if I'm going to get Miami Vice when it's out here in the US, but I saw that on the big screen (theater) and it's pretty long & boring, until the very last 25 minutes. If it doesn't starred Jamie Foxx and Gong Li, I would have never watched it.
Let me know how it goes. Best of luck.

i used DVDFab Decryper 3.0.4.0 followed by DVD Shrink. it wasn't as bad a movie as some of the reviews i'd read had said, i enjoyed it; will have to buy the first 2 seasons of the oldew worlde 1980's Miami Vice series, fond memories of those

Gwen
Try the disc in another drive and see if RipIt4Me will see the disc then.
The read errors from Decrypter - they can be due to copy protection or bad press, dirt, smudges etc.
Check AnyDVD - what's the copy protection on this one? If it's nothing but css and invalid vob's then chances are those read errors are due to a bad disc.
From the looks of the decrypter shot - it's having read errors right at the beginning - only 405 kb ripped.
Set decrypter to do movie only.

Oops :) I missed you post that you got it backed up!
I like RipIt4me - pretty neat little tool using my 2 old favs.
Maybe an uninstall and reinstall of the program? May or may not help.

Glad it all worked for you now. Yep, just slowly follow the guide through and you'll get things done in due time.
That's one of the best method ever to rip & backup DVDs nowadays beside DVDFAB Decrypter.
Enjoy the new guide.

@darnton
If you're still interested the compression ratio for movie only and digital dolby is 77% - 23% compression.
Doing movie, menu and this one audio w/ english subtitles was 76% - 24% compression used. (used Clone)

Miami Vice- full disc; Idlewild- movie only; Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest- movie only... CCE with 2 passes
EDIT: Just threw all three of these in here because they're the most popular releases this week... Ripped with AnyDVD(6.0.9.0) and DVDDecrypter then processed with FixVTS for good measure before letting DVD Rebuilder do it's thing.

@gus738
I used 6.0.8.8 - for Region 1 earlier versions of AnyDVD should handle it too - only has CSS and invalid vobu's (running boy).
Summary for drive E: (AnyDVD 6.0.8.8)
Drive (Hardware) Region: 1
Media is a Data DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)
Size of first Layer: 2019280 sectors (3943 MBytes)
Total size: 4033193 sectors (7877 MBytes)
