Is there a way to use a internal DVDR externally? Is there such a connection as DVDR connection to USB? Not a box but just a wire/wires. I need to try it on another machine but don't want to take a machine apart.

Nope, you either need an enclosure or take apart your casing.

can get an external usb2 or firewire 5.25" enclosure for about $40Can.
