I'm not sure if this is possible but if it is that'd be awesome. I have a sound system and headphones and was wondering if I can have like music playing on my speaker system while doing other things on my headphones such as playing computer games or watching a movie. (i know my examples suck but something like that...)

if you are asking if you can have two different audio outputs from one computer (like audio coming from a movie clip to one stereo and an mp3 going to a pair of headphones), the answer is yes, you just need two soundcards. I used to DJ for years and in my DJ rack had a computer with two soundcards, two winamps, and used an external mixer to crossfade between the two. You can get yourself a decent cheap Creative soundcard or something similar, install it in an open PCI slot, and there ya go. Whatever program you are using to play (like winamp for example) in the output preferences you can select which audio device to output to. So you can have two apps running simultaneously going to separate outputs.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

I haven't DJ'd in about 3 years now, but I was a DJ for about 5 years. I mainly did weddings. They were easy gigs...same songs, everyone in a good mood, pay was good, and open bar! If you are interested in DJing with your computer, I highly recommend PCDJ Red. Its a great program that you can actually get a hardware interface for and control the program with that (instead of having to use a keyboard and mouse). You also might want to drop GeeStar20 a line, he's a DJ as well (he actually spins records).
