Using DVDPro 1X to 4X Certified Media, I am getting a message from Nero stating: "Please insert an empty medium to write to", Medium required for the compilation: "DVD-R/RW, DVD-RAM" "Medium type in the recorder: (Empty).

I am baffled. Been trying to burn DVD Video files from Hard Drive.

Try inserting a more reliable disc like a -R Ritek. Are the DVD Pro's definitley -R?

Yep, the invoice clearly states:

NEW! DVDPro(tm) 1 -4X DVD-R 4.7GB For General Purpose 25 Pack.

I'm not new to burning CDs, been doing that for several years, but these DVDs seem to be an entirely different situation. With CDR/RW they can be formatted. What about these DVD-R/RWs et al? Are they to be formatted? If so, maybe I'm using the wrong type of burning software. What burning software do you use?

I myself use RecordNow. You can download a free trial and give it a whirl.

All the bruning info you need to start is here: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/141024.php#dvd9dvd2one

Just completed a burn of 1 disc using DVDXCOPY ver 1.2.2. During the process, DVDXCOPY asked as to which Write software to use; Default or Nero. I chose Nero. With DVDXCOPY's interface, the LF-D521U picked up the DVDPro DVD-R blank media and began the burn process.

As I write this, I am watching the first disc. It appears seamless.

Still, I need an answer to the original problem. I used DVDShrink 2.3 to reauthor, then selected Nero 5.5.10.28 to perform the burn. Of course, the LF-D521U would not recognize the blank media. In-as-much, why did it recognize the blank media when I used DVDXCOPY to perform the authoring?

Who knows Habibbi, who knows - lol

I would definitely recommend the new version of Record Now Deluxe, it replaces Record Now Max and you can get it here: Follw the guide on that site and you will have perfect DVD copies each time.
