First of all, I want to say that you guys that always help the people who need it are awesom. And I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this to go, and if it is, please move it to the right place.

Alright, On all trackers, for some reason I don't connect to many people, and others I somehow give 100 KB/s. I'm using BitLord and I think I have everything set up properly, I've changed ports several times so it can't be that. It's been this way for a couple days now ever since I installed Azures or however it's spelt, we've also had problems with our cable lately, but that can't be it because then I wouldn't be seeding to some people and then not others.

Please help, I'd hate to be banned from the Sky and Demonoid trackers because I can't connect to someone to seed, and I'd hate to not be able to upload torrents anymore.

Hi,

Uninstall BitLord, its bundled with spyware, run AdAware & AVG antispyware once its gone.

It depends on whether or not anyone seeding it, without anyone sharing the file you can't download it, ask nicely on the tracker you got the torrent if you can get a re-seed. If the problem persists read the trackers FAQ on connectability, it should explain everything else.

Thanks for the insight, but like I said, I used to get extremely high speeds on even torrents with not so many seeders. Now, I try and download something with over 25 seeders and no leechers and it takes me an hour at tops 10kb/s. I've already reinstalled it and all, it still didn't work. It's not just one tracker, it's all trackers that I'm having this problem with.

If anyone knows how to configure BitLord to get it to run to it's max, I'd greatly appreciate the info. Cause I got the config info before and that's how I sped it up last time but then all of a sudden it started being extremely slow after I installed and Uninstalled Azureus.

Hey there,

If you are experiencing issues with your torrent speeds, please read on.

If you are using a router, please ensure that you have configured it to play nice with your BT d/l & u/l speeds, here are some
great guides on how to open and forward ports on your router:

*Step 1*

Router Configuration Guides

Slow Bit Torrent downloads? Router configuration tips (By CamDog):

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/73686

TUTORIAL: How To Open Ports and Forward them to your Router (By tEChniiQue):

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/223583

*Step 2*

If you have a firewall installed, you must allow your BT client full access to the network via <Insert firewalls name here>. How to do this depends on what firewall you are using, information on how to do this is likely to be found on the manufacturers forums:

Kerio Forums

http://forums.kerio.com/

Outpost firewall Support Forums

http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/

Zone Labs User Forum

http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs

Sygate Product Forums

http://forums.sygate.com/vb/

If you have Windows XP firewall installed, I reccomend you disable it (via Controll Panel Security Centre) and use one of thefirewalls listed here:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/292257

Windows firewall has no outbound protection, meaning a full software firewall will prove much more effective.

*Step 3*

Download well seeded torrents, seed's are people who have the full file and are distributing, leech's/peers are people who are aquiring the file, the more leech's the slower the speed as the seed can only upload xxxyyyzzz amount at one time, the greater the upload & download speed of the seed the faster data can be transferred, a torrent with 100 seeds and 500 peers will go very slow, as there are more people trying to download the file than share it, meaning less data can be uploaded to the peers as there is more to share it with.

A torrent with 100 seeds and 10 leechs will go very fast! as the seed can upload more to xxyyzz person as there is less people to share it with.

Please tell us the amount of seed's and leech's on the torrent!

*Step 4*

If you have Windows ServicePack 2 installed, you'll need this:

Install the LvlLord Patch

http://www.lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=downloads

Windows will prompt you with a pop up telling you system files are being altered, ignore this, click cancel, also your Anti Virus may alert you telling you this patch is a virus, its not! so ignore that too :-)

*Step 5*

If there still slow, its possible your ISP is capping your BT download & upload speeds, you need to call them and ask them how they feel about "Peer to Peer file sharing programs" and whether they have placed any caps, it may be worth you checking out this guide if so:

It should work the same for all versions of windows.
The only thing that does not apply would be the lvllord patch because it is xp sp2 specific.
I would also advise you to dump bitlord, because a lot of people block connections to and from people that use it *possibly explaining your poor speeds*, and it's being banned by more and more trackers every day.

I did ditch it when it started screwing up, I tried just about every Torrent program I could and they all seed and leech very slowly. As for the Windows thing, they don't. They work up until the part of advancd with your internet TCP, thn it doesn't have what the tut shows.
