WMP can't read 5.1 audio from DVD, and send it out via SPDIF.
On my Logitech Z-5500 speakers' control (connected on coax SPDIF out), when I get a 5.1 signal from DVD, it displays "Dolby Digital", I can hear 6 diferent channels, and there's no settings for that mode.
But with this WMP, I get only stereo sound which speakers can then process to feel like 6 channel, which is a bit diferent.
I was hoping that 3rd party DVD player won't be necessary, but proven wrong.
Long live CyberLink!

If you're using Windows Vista, you might want to read about how the system degrades what it considers "premium content" over "insecure" interfaces. A long but worthwhile read...
I've read that.
It's outrageous!
Damn Microsoft! Depriving us of entertainment.
Why just they don't leave content protection to a manufacturer of media?
Like SACD: there's NO WAY of reproduction of full 5.1 audio on anything but SACD standalone player, not any computer program recognize it. It must be RIAA lobby, screw 'em all!
I'm really pissed off!
Microsoft denying us of functionality of our computers on purpose!!!
Remember Oklahoma City?
Makes me wish some freak do a Redmond City bomb!
If it's not for hardware support I'd be running Linux long time ago!
