This is really sweet! I was on Digg today, and it had an article on how to run Gamecube Homebrew on your Wii. Here is the website for what you will need, and an explanation about how to do it.
Digg, is a website that has a bunch of stories that people post on there. They get their sorces from places all over the internet. When I was on there the other day, it said that the Wii could support Homebrew.
This is for the people that don't know what Homebrew is. It is basically a code written by certain programmers to let certain programs/games they make, be able to play on the system the designed it for. Have you ever played Emulators? That is basically Homebrew. The programmers wrote the code for the emulator, and made it playable on the PC, Xbox, etc.
So with Homebrew running on your Wii, you can basically run old game systems (i.e. Sega, SNES, NES) on the Wii system. That means, you wouldn't have to pay money to get the games from the Virtual Console, because you can just download it, and play it through homebrew.
Thats great and all, It's been up on a lot of RSS feeds for the past few days. Theres a few videos of it on youtube. It only works because the Wii has a gamecube inside of it. The Gamecube homebrew doesnt work on the wii but works thru reverse compatability.
Dude the Gamecube Homebrew works on the Wii. It talks about how to do it and all on the website I've given. You use a Gamecube Memory Card that supports SD cards, and you run the homebrew through that.
No no see your missing my point intirely...
I'm not arguing with you on the fact that it works or not ive seen the same videos and sites as everyone else. Just saying that its nothing new and innovative. someone had the bright Idea that If it worked in my GC why not try it out in my Wii. Your Wii shares common software/hardware with the Gamecube, Hence how it is backwards compatable with the GC games. Its to the effect of using a gc game in your Wii. Its awesome but not really a step foward. He even has to use the SD adapter instead of being able to interface with the SD port of the Wii showing everything is done thru the GC part of the Wii.
It's not taking advantage of ANYTHING new to the Wii, It's still early but I hope to soon see people being able to make homebrew Wii Channels or boot homebrew apps thru Virtual Console.
Alright, Now I see what oyu are saying. This Homebrew worked on the Gamecube, and you were telling me that it will also work on the Wii. So it's kind of old news. I get what you are saying know.
