ok i bought micromachinesv4 in an iso (yes i own the disk). and i would like to play it off my memory stick. i have a 2.71 fw ta-802

i install HEN-D and have devhook .46 for 2.71. now what do i need to do to run that iso?
also, if i have emulators, will i have to run them in 1.5?
could someone be kind enough as to point me towards the dump file? ive searched for hours

Follow Frankie's guide for running the ISO:

If you already have HEND and DevHook installed just do this:
1. Put your ISO into X:\ISO\ where X is the drive letter of your PSP
2. Make sure you don't have a UMD inserted and go to PHOTO-->HEND on your PSP and a blue screen will come up. Wait for your PSP to autoreset. If your PSP freezes then repeat this step until it works.
3. Now go to GAME-->Memory Stick and select DevHook. Go to UMD SELECT and select your ISO. Also go to FIRMWARE and select 2.71. Then click START DEVHOOK.

Thats it!

BTW You dont use the 1.5 dump to play ISOs. You use the 2.71 dump (since you have DevHook 0.46).You'll have to dump it yourself using PSAR Dumper which you can find on PSP-Hacks.

and if they game requires 3.xx i have to put devhook .51 on without writing over the .46 and run it using 3.xx fw?

btw the iso's are huge, is there a way to compress them to fit on the memory stick? is that what a cso is?

Yeah cso is a compression format that decreases the sizes of ISOs. DevHook can run CSOs just like ISOs without any modification. Just use this program to compress the ISOs:

Also, since you ripped the file it probably has a dummy file (a file that pushes the game data to the edge of the UMD disc allowing faster loading times). You can use UMDGen to remove those. Download UMDGen from here and use the remove padding option. DO this before you compress the ISO

which psar dumper is it? the psardumper 2b says 2.6 and 2.7 but it doesnt list 2.71. which one works?

well i got both devhooks to work. the .51 to use 3.xx and .46 for use with 1.5 and emulators.

the iso i had compressed into a cso was bad so i have to get another one to try it out but it came up under UMD description so i know im close

You can further compress your iso by deleting the fw update eboot..but do not delete the folder..just the eboot inside through umdgen.

@mike02188- No you can't delete the PARAM.SFO file as it give the PSP information about the game (but theres no point in deleting it anyway cos its so small). You can delete the BOOT.BIN but do not delete the EBOOT.BIN or your game wont work. You can also dummy any music/sounds or movies you don't need.

@SlayerXz- You can only play ISOs (downloaded games) on firmware 1.5 and firmware 2.71 (plus Custom firmware). If your PSP is lower than 2.71 but higher than 1.5, then just upgrade to 2.71 to play ISOs. However no firmware higher than 2.71 can play ISOs.
