Where the hell do you get it?

I have a dell desktop PC with a DVD8701 drive and I cannot find any firmware for it. I keep getting book type error about 1 minute into burning any DVD either ISO or regular DVD.

I tried "DVD8701" and it said error.

I tried "DVD 8701" and it reported firmware for a NEC ND-1300A

You said you had a Philips; unless it IS a NEC unit. String searches are VERY specific! Try it, see what you get. Be exact. Flashing the wrong firmware for your unit could ruin it.
