Hi people!!
I just go my psp some days ago, and I've been reading about downgrading and running ISO files. The problem is, I've gotten different information from different sites, so I do not no any longer what is valid for my psp, and thereby asking you guys! =)
I got a PSP-1004 K with the number IC6001 to the left when I open the UMD drive. Unfortunately the first thing I did when I got it was to upgrade the firmware to 2.71 (I didn't knew better, wanted to try the psp out with the game I bought with - Tekken Dark Resurrection).
So, the questions are (please don't redirect me to any tutorials):
*CAN I downgrade my psp without bricking it, anyone done it?
*What softwares are needed? (easy-used-programs?)
*How do I do it?
So.. we can start with these questions ;)
Thnx peeps!

DONT DOWNGRADE!
Your PSP has the letters IC6001 so you can't downgrade. If you try it will brick your PSP.
However, there is nothing wrong with 2.71. It can now run homebrew as well as ISOs.

if you have your screen facing away from you and the umd draw open
and the writing is on the left hand side of the mobo, then go ahead and downgrade, i have the same psp sat infront of me and its on 2.71SE-C
dont listen to these idiots.....
but like eternalis said - you can always use Hen-C and run devhook

umm if u open your umd case and dont see letter at all i think that means its not TA-082. I havea TA-082 unfortunately, after bricking a 1.5 PSP :(
But its still good, Yes u can do almsot anything that the 1.5's can do. TO run Homebrew u have to use HEN D and then emulate firmware 1.5 with devhook. I was once in your shoes and got all the info i needed from here :

I Ment on the right hand side of the mobo. Damn'it!!! So I do got a Ta-082?? :S ..grr.. But as I get it now, there is nothing wrong with having this mobo? One can still run Iso's on it!? What is the bad thing about this then? Why don't people just use Hen-c and devhook and stop complaining? Is there something wrong with this way?

Ok, so use of Hen-C and Devhook won't brick my psp but a downgrade will? What is the difference? Does hen-c and Devhook just simulate 1.5 while a downgrade really writes to flash0?
And I found out that there is Hen-D, should I use that or Hen-c? Difference?
Thnx for the help mate, I really appreaciate it =)

Using HEND or DevHook wont brick your PSP.
Use HEND. HEND is an updated version of HENC so naturally it is better.
Downgrading will only brick your PSP if you have a TA-082A motherboard, refer to what Ravenlife said.

So now I've tried it, but as usually, with all electronic things, it can not just go smoothly!!
I started first by formatting my ms. Then I download the easy installer "devhook chunglam's easy installer V2" from the link on this forum:

and extracted it to the root of my psp ms. Then I went to the picture folder and let the greyish pic that sais HEN-D Load, and then I choosed it. I got a blue screen for 1 sec and then a red for like 5 - 6 sec, and then it just shuts down. Then I tried to start up the Devhook launcher, and it sais "The game could not be started" .. so.. what do I do?? What did I do wrong??
ps. I got metal gear acid as Iso in the iso folder of the ms.
*More confused then ever* lol ..
Ahh, now I got the green screen! I tried by hard resetting it first, and now it worked =) Hmm.. let us hope the rest will work too :P
