I'm not much of a gamer. I bought the original NES with my allowance when I was in the 5th grade. I didn't buy another system until I was a junior in college ( I bought a PS1 after they trimmed down the price) and even then I only bought 5 games for it. I'm now older than I like to admit, but I was giddy when I started to read about the Wii. I cannot describe how much fun this thing is. Because I'm not a 'hardcore' gamer, I don't need HD graphics or blu-ray/hd-dvd (especially when no one knows if one or the other will go by the way of beta-max) to be happy. This console allows me to have fun with my friends, my children, and others who otherwise might not want to play video games. One problem I always had about gaming was that it was all about pushing buttons and knowing what combinations of button pushing would do what. To me that was boring (plus I wasn't very good at it with some games). The Wii just brings a fun, more lively experience to game play that, for me, had been missing over the last 15 or so years.

Why can't wii all just get along?

I love the system I have a lot of fun with it especially the wii remote because it feels like it is a part of you. You really can get into it especially wii sports I definatley think it is worth it especially for the price just my opinion though :)

If you want things done right then sometimes you have to do it yourself :)

yes it is worth it and no it isn't

let me explain

ok im happy with my wii my console runs great

but!!!!!

i have one problem with my console

and it is this

wii gamers where promised even in demo dvds that where givin out for free at fred meyer and several other locations that we would be able to surf the internet get news and weather right out of the box then we where promised dvd playback and then we where promised a large libary of n64 nes tg16 sg titles when we went into the shop channel

and here is what happened

1.nintendo took away the dvd playback feature

2.nintendo has placed more roms for older consoles then the n64 which is what people want to download is good super nintendo roms and good 64 roms not sg not tg16 not nes

3.then they say you have to pay 9.95 for the Opera web browser which i find funny because Opera is a free web browser for pc users so why in the &&&&&% would i want to pay 10 dollers for a free web browser

4.then they now say oh the news station and the weather channel wont go online untill dec 20 and january 1

i paid for my console to do things iwant it to do not things i do not want it to do

I find the system to be fun, and worth it. However, I desire more games for it! lol. From the few they have available atm, I have found the few I have played fun as hell: Excite truck, wii sports, and zelda.

I have dialup internet, so I can't take part in any of the online stuff anyways, so that doesn't matter to me at this point.

I can say though, that paying 250$ for a console that is fun to play, In my opinion, is more 'worth it' than paying 600+ for a console that has pretty graphics.

As for launch titles, Trauma Center is highly underacknowledged, a great title that I highly reccomend.

And yes, the system is well worth it.

Although I wouldn't expect to see online gaming until January-March '07. Smash Bros is still supposedly going to be online; and I hope it is; but I'm skeptical that they may drop that. Either way, we'll get Metroid Prime 3 online, which is nice. :D

And Nintendo is finally putting up more online VC titles, it's about time.

We will? I thought retro had completely scrapped multiplayer from corruption.
I'd say there is a better chance of smash bros being online than metroid prime 3. But i guess we'll see, eh?

It's totally worth it! Make sure that you get at least Zelda with it, because it is a really long game.

Its very worth it. Just give it a few months so that newer firmware releases will extend the capability of your console. I just hope that a Modchip will come out sometime next year. THere are some japanese Wii titles that are a must have.

Definately worth owning! I was skeptical at first but after playing my friend's Wii I was hooked. I was lucky to get one! Friends of mine who aren't gamers at all still really love this console. I only have the Sports and Play games at the mo but Golf and Bowling are the shiznit. For the unfit couch potatoes out there watch your backs - you'll feel it the next morning. I can't wait for a proper golf game to hit the shelves.

If you want a new game system, and don't feel like shelling out the mad cash for the Wii; but still want a great value, there is another alternative, that IMPO is just as good an investment as the PS3:

It detects your movement, and allows you to play with objects more interactively.

This incredibly new technology is available for just $49.99 and is a great gift for your teen who has been asking for a 360, PS3 or Wii that you can't find/afford for Christmas. lol.

To all PS3 fans, please don't take this as a personal insult, it's all in good fun, and is not to be taken seriously.

Hey look, this one has a wrsit strap! lol.

You sound like you could be about my age (your not so old), and you have pretty much summed up everything that I feel about gaming and the WII. The last time I had so much fun with games was in the Pre-Sony era. I now own a PS2, (mostly because of the hype), and it didn't bring me the same fun I had with my NES back in 1989.

As far as Blue-Ray going the way of Beta-max. Could the lacluster sales of Sony's UMD movie disks be any prediciton what's yet to come for Blue-Ray?

On the other hand, the WII is fun, and it just seems right. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. The graphics look fine to me, but the XBOX and PlayStation community point out that their console's graphics are better. Well back in the early 90's, the expensive SNK NEO Geo had better graphics than the SNES and the Genesis. And like the PS3 system, it was over priced. SNK thought that it could over take the 16bit gaming consoles just on superior graphics alone. Where is SNK in the gaming console arena today? And we might be asking that same question to Sony sooner than one might think.
