can someone pls advise..apart from dvd ripping software what hardware do i need to rip dvd's??..I am new to all this and just want to experiment..thanks..also will i need a dvd rom drive to rip dvd's..currently i have a cd rom and a iomega cdrw..will the cdrw burn my dvd's??..

You need DVD-ROM in order to rip the movies. If you want to watch ripped movies with your stand-alone DVD player, you must encode the videos to MPEG-1/VCD.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">VideoCD format and burn them with your regular CD-R/W drive -- the quality is _not_ near the DVD, but closer to VHS instead.
