I have the 4020. Few problems; it's been a happy drive. It just didn't like the DVD-RAM drivers installed. Hopefully that bug is now fixed.

Does 4020 write 9.4Gb RAM discs too? If so, then I believe 4040 will doo also...

No, unfortunately very few burners will write to 9.4 GB media.
And if one does, I would think they'd make sure they put that in big letters in the description.

The GSA-4040B is available at www.ourstore.com The LG drive cannot write to 9.4GB DVD-Ram media, but the Panasonic SW-9571, LF-D311, and LF-D291 drives can which are also availble at OurStore.com

I have just recieved one that was ordered fromnewegg.com. Can't wait to see how it works. I have a Sony DRU-120A that quit working, and this baby is the replacement.

In a word reply: 'Yup'
In two words: 'You Should'
In three words: 'I Think So!'
In four words: 'Get the Pioneer Drive'

I own the earlier LG drive.
For $150 I'd take it back if I could.
I assume you are in Canada and the Pioneer is at Futureshop? If not check out my post in the Pioneer for 105 quid.

Yea..I am fron canada and futureshop is actually selling it at $299 - $60 instant rebate and $40 mail in rebate.
So, I guess I will bring back the LG as it seems everyone likes the pioneer drive so much...and there must be good reasons. They also have the A06 for sale but @ $399 and they also have a (opened box) A06 @ $336.
Wanted to really find out, what is the diff between - and +? All I wanted to do is backup PS2 and DVD movies. How do I find out if my DVD player will take the DVD- ?

You can check compatability here: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers.php
Make sure you read it carefully, we just ran into a buddy's DVD player being on the "supported" list. After doing some reading, of the 8 people who responded 3 said it didn't work and listed specific things they tried. The 5 people who said it worked left no comments, so people may just be checking things off without reading.
I found a nice little "bad DVD" list here though: http://www.imagestation.com/help/topics/video2dvd/
