disc will not play in pc or stand alone. ripped file with dvdfab went through recode and no play. burn with shrink fine. what did i do wrong?

Post the burn log - this is the recode log saving to the hard drive. This part looks okay.
For Nero 7 - program files>nero>nero 7>core>nerohistory
For Nero 6 - program files>ahead>nero>nerohistory.
Just need the last one.

What media are you using - like Sony 16x?
Even though your firmware is update all the log sees is that it's Media type: DVD+R

You also has this in both logs: (KEY_ILLEGAL_REQUEST Which is could be due to the drive not really liking the media. It happens in the beginning of the burn.
Nero API version: 7.5.7.0
Using interface version: 6.3.1.4
Probably not playing into this error but you still have some of Nero 6 left. So you can uninstall - run the clean tools and reinstall Nero.

same media as always verbs or memorex this one happen on the mem
i will try to do one verb and 1 mem to see what happen to rule out media. if you think that will work?
is there a short cut to Nero logs. takes me forever to fine them.

I'd try one of each and give it a shot.
Memorex ain't that great so hopefully it's just the Memorex giving you this problem.
When the burn is done Nero will ask it you want to save the log (automatically saves the burn part anyhow) just say yes and you can pick where you want to save it.
