I'm looking forward to getting my Wii soon.
But first of all i have a few questions:
How much space do you need for the Wii?
I live in a small apartment and I don't exactly have tons of space.
Do you need a big tv to play it?
What games would you all suggest getting first?
I'm thinking of getting 'Red Steel' even though it has terrible reviews.
I'm not really the Zelda type but i might get into it cause of it's great reviews.
Any suggestions or information i should know before buying the Wii?

You have a pc (Obviously), it's the size of a cd-rom drive, literally.
Zelda is good. Make sure you get Wii sports(J/k lol). And if you've got some spare green still, I suggest Trauma Center(Challenging and addictive), or holding out a few days for Elebits.
TV size doesn't matter, it doesn't read your actual television for anything.

Thanks for the reply.
when i asked 'how much space do you need for the wii'i meant to play it(i should have been more precise)
so i rephrase:
how much space do you need to play the wii(so you're controller isn't smashing against the wall)?

lol. Okay, let me give you some more helpful info then.
It is suggested 8'x8' for play. I'm a big guy, and will say that I have a space of about 4'x12'. My living room is long, but the distance from th front of the couch, to the front of the television isn't that long. (I have deep couches :D ) I've been fine, although; I had one scare with Wii Sports:Bowling, where I nearly tapped my tv screen with the Wiimote. I would suggest at LEAST 2' behind you(More chest level, for swinging, etc; but not really floor level) and as much as 4-5' in front of you depending on how far forward you might stretch.
I should also emphasize, only a *few* games will really make you move this widely. Most of them are based on much smaller movements and twitch reflex type control. So the space estimate I give does not apply to a large portion of the available titles, only a fraction.

nah you dont need too much room unless you plan on getting into the game, i mean like really really into the game. Yes all you need is just a flick of your wrist and the motion will be transferred easily to the wii. But some players get into it and exagerate the motion even more. For zelda I like to exagerate the motion of links sword swipes only because it makes feel like i am in the game. But thats me, go with what you like.

I'm hoping SSB hits Quarter 1, but many sources are leaning more towards May. Also notable, it seems that Metroid Prime 3(Originally thought to be a launch title) might not be released until later half of '07, as in fall. But that's all purely speculation.
If you like mindless fun, you might try excite truck. It's not terribly deep or varying, but it's genuinely fun. I won't suggest it as a purchase, unless you've tried it and REALLY like it.
I have elebits coming in the mail, it's actually one of the first titles I got really excited about(Along with SSB), so I'll let you know how it is when I receive it.
The known good titles are:
-Zelda
-Trauma Center
-Madden 07(Reviews indicate better gameplay thatn the 360/PS3 versions)
-Marvel Ultimate Alliance isn't bad, but sometimes the special moves can be a bit frustrating.
I'm still waiting for Nintendo to get off there duff and:
-Release Mario Galaxy
-Make a new Mario Kart
-Make a new Star Fox
-Give us a new Animal Crossing
-Give us the DS demo functionality that Reggie spoke of
-Get twenty more titles out, lol
I'm really surprised that the big N launched a system this time without Mario OR Luigi... It's kind of saddening. I would've bought Mario Galaxy as a day one title, probably Metroid too(Even though I never finished prime 1, I purchased and never played prime 2, lol).
Also, Super Swing Golf should be good, Tecmo has made a lot of great titles, including some relatively unknown sleeper hits, this will likely be one of them. It contains some characters from the DOA series among others, and looks to have a solid formula. If you like golf, give it a shot.

Hey! I have a Wii. I have Monster 4x4: World Circuit and Elebits. I think Monster 4x4 is a pretty good game, but I think it'll be better when I get another controller and will be able to play the 3 mini games that it has (monster ball, monster soccer, monster combat). The tricks you do when you go over the jumps are pretty cool. You hold the wii remote horizontally and when you go over jumps you can move it in loops in pretty much any direction and your truck will spin the same way! This gives you boosts, which is pretty cool and really helps you get ahead. The only thing I don't like is that so far I've probably raced 8 games, and after I figured out how to play it, it was SO EASY!! I got first or second about 85% of the time. I hope it gets harder, though. (By the way, i don't use the included steering wheel that you pop the remote into. I don't think its necessary)
Elebits is a really good game, although it seems very childish in the beginning and in the intro. movie. But after that, it is really fun when your gun thingy gets enough power and you can throw around desks and shelves, pretty much making a total mess of your house!
PS: I was wondering if anyone else has the problem with Wii Bowling that I have. The ball always seems to spin to the right, unless theres only a couple pins left and then it allows me to spin it to the right. This makes me have to use the d-pad to move over my mii so I aim to the right of the head pin to get a strike. Otherwise I can just release the ball really late so it flies in the air and goes straight down the alley.(I don't like doing that since it's not like really bowling)
Thanks and good luck finding a Wii!
