Hi,

Basically, I'm getting a replacement DVD player from Toshiba for all the trouble I've been having with them. I can either get the new 7990 or the 6980. I'm not sure which is better.

I don't have an HD-TV, just a regular Toshiba Cinema Series 25" (maybe 27"?) television. So I'll just be hooking up componant or composite to that. No sound system either.

The 6980 has SA-CD playback (though I don't think I'd ever use it). Both play DivX. I can't tell from the specs on-line if the 7990 has regular componant and composite outputs. I know the 6980 does.

However, the 6980 has a Video D/A of 10-bit/54MHz -- this seems really low compared to other players. (I'm guessing the 7990 has 14-bit/108MHz like the 4990 and 3990 in the same series.) What is this exactly? And what effect does it have on picture quality in general, as well as specifically for how I'll be using it?

I guess the most important thing for me is the picture quality on my TV...

Any help is appreciated! (And the sooner, the better -- I think I need to let them know asap.) Thanks!
