You're right; the whole thing is rediculous. Sometimes it more a matter of the TVs native resolution whether, say, 720p looks better than 1080i and not a matter of which is better but rather which better suits the TV. Its an arugement you won't win because you can't. The answer is "Well, it depends on...." And saying "1080i is Sh**" is just nonsense. A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. You should just not go back to that thread rather than continue to try to get your point across to people who don't want to hear it or only know a tad bit of information from which they speak.

Ced (Diabolos) has explained the differences quite eloquently in the HD Displays thread. If you review some of the things he wrote there on this subject, you could get back to that thread with a lot of info but I think you'd be speaking to people who don't listen anyway.
