More illegal disc errors (Nero 7)

I'm really not sure what I'm missing here so any advice will be most welcome, my DMA says it's off in the report but my system device manager reports DMA Ultra 4 and 3 is on for my drives..
I was burning just fine a while ago, but for some reason whenever I get any 16x (Currently using Sony 16x DVD+Rs (AccuCORE)) DVDs Nero implodes on me.
I'm pretty sure these DVDs are on the compatible list for this drive.
Anyways here's the error log..

yeah man try cleaning the eye and check for smooth movement of the rails inside your burner. I had a similar prob on a year and half old plex burner. Was able to burn 8X DVD's but as you know only 16X's are commonly available in the stores. So seeing as I couldn't RMA the drive as it being more than a year since purchase ...I said F*ck it rip it apart and check it out. Low and behold a pretty good size of some kind of shmeg was on the eye... a lil spit and a wad of tissue paper and a lil rubbin..... now it works like brand new. If it's a new drive return it. BTW I had the same probs with Nero 6 and upgraded to the same prob with Nero 7.... Hope this works for you.

Unfortunately my firmware for this drive is 'current'.
Subsequent to these errors I tried burning at lower speeds it made no difference.
I will probably try to clean the drive when I get the chance but I've been very busy at work so I haven't had time, thank you for the advice so far, if anyone has any other ideas please let me know!
