The past week or so, both of my drives are having trouble reading movies correctly. I thought it was just some new tricks they had added to the DVD's, but I didn't see anybody else having the problem on the boards.

I inserted an older disc and the same problem happens. Once I put the disc in the drive(s), it takes about 30 seconds for the drives to even make the louder noise like they are actually attemping to read it. Once that happens, the Windows dialog comes up asking me what I want to do with it. I close that dialog box and open up DVD Fab Decryptor, when trying to read the disc, the "Failed to get DVD Information" dialog box comes up asking for details to send to the FAB people.

I try RipIt4Me, it says "No disc in drive"
I try DVD Shrink, and it actually can read it, but they are generally messed up when it's done analyzing.

I thought back to what I did to my PC a week or so ago that could have done this... I bought my brother an ipod for Christmas and installed iTunes 7 + Quicktime to add songs to it for him.

Could that be the culprit? Anybody else with a similar problem?

The firmware for the DVD+-RW is up to date, I don't think the DVD-ROM's firmware is, but the problem is identical in each drive.

Any insight is greatly appreciated! =)

Try this.....
Go into the Device Manager, and find your drive(s). Right click on it, and choose "Uninstall". After it uninstalls, reboot, and let Windows detect new hardware, and install a new driver for you. Sometimes this fixes this problem, and sometimes it doesn't.
Good luck!

If it works on one, then do the other.......
