I think i should have posted this question here instead of under the Nero section...anyway, I'm trying to fugure out how i can remove (cut) the first few seconds and also the last few second from mp3 tracks before i burn them onto a cd. I have several songs that have talking and "skits" at the beginning and end of the song and i just don't like it! Can i remove this from my MP3s without using special software?...how can i do this? Thanks for your help

you need two programs, both are free. first use dBPowerAMP to convert the mp3 file to an uncompressed wave file. (you can find the link to dBPowerAMP's website in my sig below). Next use Audacity, a free audio editor utility to cut out the beginning and end sections you want to remove. Export that file to wave. Do NOT export the file to mp3, or use dBPowerAMP to convert the new wave file to mp3. You want to burn that wave file directly to your audio CD using Nero. By recompressing the wave file back to an mp3 file, it will greatly reduce the quality. Anytime you convert a lossy format audio (such as mp3) to another lossy format, there is great quality loss. Even though you have uncompressed it to wave, that doesn't matter. Just burn the wave file to audio CD for best results.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

Here's a little tool that will not reencode the file. It will just trim as much of the beginning and/or end of the file that you wish.

Yes you will. When Nero Wave Editor gets done you reencode the file to save it. Your best option is at the link I provided. Again, it will not reencode your files.
