well i finally found out how the wii iso files that are floating around the internet are being made
it seems that the wii's format on the game cd's are the same format as gamecube disks backwards to forwards so several hackers have figured out how to use the current set of gamecube network extraction tools to create wii iso's not only that they have figured out how to hack the hitachi cd drive to beable to gain access to the cd's but this doesn't mean a firmware hack is going to happen anytime soon because a really doupt people want to take apart there wiis to get the application to work
so from reading this here is what i understand so far
you need
1. a nintendo wii usb lan adapter
2. a lan based dumping hack
3. a wii cd-drive hack
4. and some good old hacker know how
but if the firmware on the cd drive can be accessed then maybe someone can write a firmware for current pc cd drives to make backups easier for the public to use
but i didn't even know that the format was the same as a gamecube disk this makes using a mod chip even easier because the only thing you have to find out is where to attch the leads and how to run a modded os on the console and your done
but still a long way of thanks to rsa encryption
AND PSO DOESN"T WORK ON WII

not true the old dumping applications only support 1.5gb of data while several new apps which im not about to talk about here go up to 4.6 gigs and higher
this is due to people trying to do multiboot games off of one dvd disk
so far without much success

I realy doubt this is going to work, I know we need to get the Wii to dump the dual layer format and the 4.6GB that it uses, as no PC DVD drive will read them what so ever but!
If the GC and Wii games are burnd the same, and tbh its a really good security idea, then Nintendo has already thought of how people are going to try and backup Wii games, so they must have made totaly sure that the Wii dvd drive will not dump information onto anything other than the Nintendo Wii, and as such the Nintendo Wii must be using encryption codes.
Also any Nintendo Gamecube method Will not work on the Wii, because your forcing it into GC mode so it wont read Wii DVD while in that mode.
And also the Wii file format will be unknow to any gamecube backup software.
But I do agree that it would have to be a duming method.

not true the dvd drive in the wii using a special application and a few gamecube apps will dump wii games im currently experementing with the app and i can create isos but for some reason i cannot burn the disk because the backup all though it will let you create one it wont let you burn it because of a lock so i have to figure out how to defeat the logger if i can get through this i can figure out how to get them to boot but untill i get past old anti boot system it isn't going to work worth snot

Ok maybe I can help you Ive done this before, ok tell me what size the image is and what the file extension it is im assuming either .RVL or even .GCM, because if its .GCM the image is wrong and its not going to work, because the aptications are dumping it wrong, thinking there GC images and there for only dumping 1.35GB of data when the Wii is either 4.5Gb or 8.5GB.
If you change the extension of the dump into .ISO can you burn it then?
If you are getting more than one file come through, there dummy files and there spoofing you, the Wii may check for these files but there not worth anything.

i sont think you can help me hear
let me explain
the redsteel iso is 4.86 gigs the file is called a .avx and itunes and even mac os x recognize this as a audio file but what is weird is the avx callout is not able to be opened i have tried even using binary apps to translate and it just isn't working it trys to read it and then trys to display it and fails or displays a blank screen with the first line looking like this
#5$#$*&^%^&^%&)(*
because for some reason the security is design to stop anyone from accessing the disk
im hopeing that in about a week or before christmas
that i can get by it and figure out the files under the avx callout
and i still have no idea what avx does yet but still once figured out i should be able to access the file and the gcm/dols inside the file
which means soon i should have a better understanding
but any common knowledge in Opera can get you wii to do a lot of things like the wii browser hack because of a wireless server callout the wii was able to access the internet without downloading a web browser
so who knows the latest update for the wii weather service may give us another browser with more stability also even weirder is the weather channel has flash built into it because the globe setting on the wii is a flash page from nasa's own weather service so im hoping for a cool hack to show up soon in that channel really quick

if i remember correctly the Dreamcast had a audio/video file format that had to be burned with cloneCD (i think). Maybe its a similar type of format?
