depends do you have a rear projection plasma or a standard plasma
older rear projection plasmas have no problems with the wii do to the wii's anti burn in setting in the wii's settings

Ok, I've seen (tabletpc) give false information before so I'm just wondering. I'm nearly 99.9% possitive there is no such thing as a rear projection plasma or a standard plasma. So what are you talking about? Unless your talking about Lycos which isn't really plasma but I could see of where you would get that.

Newer Plasmas are now resistant to burn in, do a little leg work on the web and find out yourself. They now do somethings with the pixels, nodes, whatever you want to call them, that ensures they do not get the dreaded burn in. Basically they rotate them in the screen so it would take an insane amount of hours to get burn in.

I'm not really worried about my plasma getting burn in when playin games and things like that but then again I don't treat my TV like an LCD either and just let stuff set on the sceen. I got my TV at the very end of last year and haven't had a problem with it yet and my TV does have pixil shift. So even though its not a huge problem I would still be careful with things like using it as a computer monitor but as far as playing video games I don't really notice a problem becasue you play for a while and then the screen changes for a video or a loading screen and it takes the things that stay stationary on the screen off for a while. So I don't think thats any different from watching (ESPN) for example and having the score at the bottom of the screen and then going to a comercial. And the same thing goes for any channal that has the little solid logos.

*Sniffle, sniffle* You've all made me so happy, after over a month of digging up posts and resources, and finding incorrect information; it seems that everyone here knows to take his info with a grain of salt. I feel like I've just won an award... I'd like to thank my mom, creaky, and ZippyDSM... *sniff sniff*
Old (Keyword old) LCDs, and lower grade ones are susceptable. By lower grade, I mean grocery stores, some of them have screens with their logo absolutely burned in, in ways that look hideous. I've not heard of a 'rear projection plasma'... That sounds like a bit of an oxymoron to me, technology-wise, but I can't verify that they do or don't.
Anywho, you can play a Wii on any screen you want, it doesn't read the screen, so the hz levels don't matter. The only thing to check on is whether your screen is susceptable to burn-in, which you can probably check by looking up your TV's model number on google, they always list something like that under features, even if 99% of them have it now.

you are insane.
not only is there no such thing as rear projection plasma (rear projection lcd has nothing to do with topic), but you said he can play on any screen but he needs to check whether the screen is susceptable to burn in.
that is exactly what he is trying to do!
thats like if he asked:
can i catch this bus with a ticket
and you answering:
you can catch any bus you like, but you will have to have a ticket.

yes there is
there are rear projection plasma tvs and lcd plasma tvs and the new samsung led tvs where the screen is made up of over a million little led lights which display random collors to display images
have you been reading lately
the rear projection plasma is a plasma tv that has light tubes that go around the glass screen to light the tv
lcd plasmas are just a high end lcd screen on a white light table
led tvs are tvs that are made up of several leds usually in the millions for ces samsung created the largest led tv using new led technology the tv would take up 2 hole bedrooms

Wow, either I need to read more or he has no clue what he's talking about. What do you all think? I think he might be tryin to talk about SED or that other new technology that uses millions of lasers (sorry if I'm incorrect about the laser part I haven't read much on that technology).

Rear Projection Tv is a form of better then tube quality picture producing Tv which started in the 80's and was popular to 1995.
It is not any type of plasma i will tell you ive had both Tv's an my viera is id say 500% better in picture quality and does 1080p.
Id say 1996-2006 is when we saw Plasmas and LCd's steal the spotlight from Rear Projection TV's you ca still buy them a 130cm one costs 1599au while a plasma same size is 3000+au.
around that time we saw tapes come out of fassion when DVD's were introduce in 1996 and 97.

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't rear projection TVs get burn in, but it's not very likely but there is the possibility. BTW I'm not saying their bad in any way (I love them) but I'm just clarifying.

Yea, I really have no clue. The only thing that I could think of would be if it was a CRT projector but I didn't think they could get burn in either.

[/quote]I think he is refering to the SED (Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display) TV's that Toshiba and Canon have been working on. There was a big buzz about them at the last Electronics show this year. We should be seeing them in stores in late 07 if the reports are right. Very good technology, burn in free, same speed(response time) as CRT and clarity of Plasma. Any specs I have seen are for 1080p capable sets. There is also some minor reports of the laser technology you speak of, but it is in its infancy from what I can find.

and tabletpc you dont have a clue about anything tv's and cable aren't your thing go back to being a kid.

Well, it kind of looks like to me that we got a little bit off topic (just a little) from his original post. So my opinion as an owner of a plasma is that I never use mine as a computer monitor or things like that for hours. But I've played video games on it for up to 10 hourse straight with no problems.
