You didn't have a Sony Playstation thread, so I thought the best place to post was here.

I have been thinking about buying a new modded orginal Sony PSX from a friend so I could play some of the classic PS1 games I missed growing up. He only wants like $50.00 for it, so I thought, what the heck.

I wanted to know, what was or is the best way to back-up PS1 games to make sure they play close to flawless? I remeber back in the day I had a "Gold Finger" plug mod that played most games alright, a lot of them had music skipping and freezeing and stuff, someone told me that was due to how I copied and burnt them. So any help would be cool.

I am only considering this because I have been told that modded PS2 units cannot play PS1 back-ups and you had to get seperate extra software to play PS1 games, if this is untrue, please let me know.

In any case, if PS2 can play PS1 modded, and anyone has a pre-modded PS2 that is in pretty good shape let me know, Id be willing to trade a modded Xbox unit with a expanded HD, new DVD Drive and extra memory I bought awhile back.

Alright I just saw the guys post before about PS1 games, so I feel like a douchebag now. I apologize for that, but if anyone could please answer any of my other questions Id be very thankful.

Most PS2 modchips will allow you to play PSX backups. Use quality CD media (such as Taiyo Yuden) and software like Alcohol 120% or Nero and your backups should play flawlessly.
