This is weird, I have a movie ( Dragonball Z movie by Funimation) that I am trying to play using my computer but it wont read it properly. At first it would not detect the DVD at all, but it at least shows the DVD in the drive. But, it will not play, I usually just use Windows media player to watch DVDs. As soon as I click to play movie it will load up windows media player but it "freezes" within seconds. I can hear the DVD drive running at full speed, but nothing is happening. I have tried opening with others programs and nothing. I can explorer the DVD and all.

I put in other DVDs I have and they all work fine in the computer.

The DVD movie is not working in the computer, will work in my DVD player.

Anyone have any ideas what is going on?

where did you get this DVD? is it the wrong region code on the DVD and that's why it won't play? try using AnyDVD to run in the background to take out the region code and then play on the computer. see if that helps. free 21 day trial of AnyDVD

I am having the same problem, except with a different title. The DVD I can not play is The fifth Element (Ultimate Edition). It is a new DVD, (could tell from looking at it that is is new) from Blockbuster. 2 seperate Drives in my PC will not even recognize that there is a disk inserted, but it plays just fine on the home player. Any suggestions???

usually it's the other way around...... that the home player can't play it but the computer can! It's definitely the disk! I don't buy from Blockbuster ... could be a used one! Try cleaning it.

This disk was new. I can tell that it was never used, if it was it was never cleaned. Surface was perfect, not even a smudge.
